Why Video?
December 28, 2009 I've had brides tell me from time to time that they don't need videography for their wedding because they have a photographer. And, they are especially convinced that because they have a photo-journalistic style photographer, they are particularly well covered for the event. Ummmm . . . no.
Photos are beautiful - but they capture only a moment. If you want to see the whole experience, you need video. Let me show you a couple of examples from the last wedding we covered. And, if you're making wedding plans and wondering if or why you need a videographer, keep these in mind when making your decision. Then, do some homework and be sure to view a videographer's complete work to make sure you'll be happy with their editing style, then invest in video as well as photography -- you'll be glad you did! (And if you're interested in talking to us about capturing your day, we'd love to hear from you -- just send me a note or call me!)

Below is a photo (a still grabbed from video) that shows Jessi's reaction when she entered her reception venue. She had worked hard on choosing just the right colors, lighting, flowers, etc. Guests were not there yet - and this was her first glimpse of the room she had so carefully designed. Below the photo is a raw footage video clip of the moment. Which do you think best conveys her excitement?

The next example is a couple of photos of the bride and her dad dancing to a song that the bride asked the band to play for her dad. (Wonder what song they were dancing to?)

Now here is the raw footage of that moment. Its obvious that they both enjoyed the band's rendition of "Taking Care of Business", and I think you'll agree that the photo can't compare to viewing the actual experience.
I could show a dozen examples just from this wedding alone -- but I think these two are pretty good examples of why video is important. Don't regret not hiring a videographer for your big day. Many of our brides tell us that it was the best money they spent on their wedding day.
